WORK ON SITE

Now that the Crissy Broadcast project has been officially announced, it’s a real thrill to share what I’ve been up to all summer! Spending time in both cities, with my pedometer on my foot and soviet-issue stopwatch in my hand, I’ve been clocking and measuring distances between positions on both fields, so that I can incorporate these calculations into the ‘score’ - which deserves quotes because there is not, in fact, a score…

But we made some really great transparencies to show the musicians in Berlin where they needed to walk, stop and play (no one plays and walks at the same time). Here’s a snapshot of one of these - it’s a sort of score, in its own way, I suppose…

The red dots are groups of higher instruments, green dots are lower instruments. (The wind usually comes from the west, in both airfields, so I let the wind help carry the higher sounds.) The yellow group is all trumpets!
